Michael Chang is a senior at Westlake High School. He was born on May 20, 1993 in Thousand Oaks, California. From an early age he showed interest in creating things and with the help of his parents, went down a path that eventually led to his dual high school hobbies of robotics and garage projects. As a student at Westlake HighSchool he competed and won awards in Science Olympiad, First Robotics, and VEX robotics championships.At home his projects include an Electric Skateboard, a Rube Goldberg machine, and a marble roller coaster. Currently, Michael is the president of the Westlake Physics Club and Co-president of the Math club. When he isn't working, he can be found running Cross Country, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and creating works of art. He will speak about the challenges—and rewards that come from working with one's hands and discuss the things that happen when one follows one's heart and sets out to prove the naysayers wrong.TEDxCONEJOTEDxConejo, an independently organized TED event, was held in Thousand Oaks, Ca on March 26, 2011.
